Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.

Black History Month

Celebrating Black History Month is only a step in the diversity journey towards honoring achievements and contributions to our nation made by people of African American descent. This celebration, in February of each year, is a much-needed reminder of all the sacrifices and accomplishments of black people.  Making a pledge to go beyond a month of celebration, but instead to be inclusive and accepting of all people, will allow us to not only educate people about black history, but of the lives and contributions of black people worldwide.

We should not only commemorate the lives that were lost to the world, but to commit to changes of policy and practices that benefit of all mankind. Liberation makes room for acceptance and space for people to be themselves versus yielding to oppression. Let’s vow to accept people for who they are and give them room to elevate change. We should take action to respond to the needs of diverse individuals, so they are acknowledged and accepted in places where doors have previously been closed. When we consider everyone as human, action is not optional.

Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.
