EAP Clinician

The EAP Clinician position plays a critical role by offering support when employees and family members call for EAP, SAP, and MAP services. The EAP Clinician also provides brief therapy, couples therapy, individual therapy, and assessments for substance use and suicidality. They also may provide management consultations to client organizations when addressing a workplace performance issue or responding to a crisis in the workplace.   • Assess client needs and link them to providers or community resources
  • Establish and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients and providers
  • Communicate via phone, video conferencing, and email
  • Provide excellent customer service including follow-up
  • Maintain case notes
  • Comply with HIPAA procedures
  • Provide critical incidence response, as requested
  • Present EAP training programs and orientations, as requested
  • Assist with scheduled on-call (approximately 5-6 times per year for additional compensation); all calls screened by after-hours service so only emergent situations are forwarded

Qualifications Requirements

  • Master’s or doctorate degree
  • 5+ years’ post-graduate experience in a mental health field
  • Full clinical licensure in the state of North Carolina


  • Comfortable working with a team
  • Organized and able to multi-task and manage well under stressful situations
  • Customer service experience including phone-based
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn EAP software
  • EAP experience and CEAP/LEAP licensure
  • Training in critical incident response

EAP Counselor/Consultant   Full Time

Position Summary: This position will provide a range of services including face to face assessment, short term solution focused counseling, case management, crisis counseling, utilization management, training and presentation skills and consultation with managers. This position is based in our Asheville office but may require weekly travel to our Hendersonville, Waynesville or Sylva office and day travel to other locations in Western North Carolina as necessary.

Experience in making workplace presentations and Account Management is preferred. The successful candidate must present in a professional manner with excellent social and relationship building skills. Minimum requirements are a Master’s degree in a mental health discipline and licensed in North Carolina as an LPC/LCMHC, LMFT or LCSW. CEAP preferred but not required.

Clinical Position Available
Behavioral Health / Integrated Care / Out-patient Therapist

LifeWorks / Brian S Hissom & Associates, PLLC is seeking well qualified candidates to provide integrated care behavioral health services in area primary care clinics and out-patient counseling in our Hickory and / or Morganton, NC offices. Our practice provides behavioral health services for a variety of medical clinics and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP). We also provide traditional out-patient counseling in both locations and offer the opportunity of a blended schedule in both medical and traditional out-patient counseling environments. Appropriate North Carolina licensure and a master’s degree or higher in counseling, clinical social work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy are required.
